The CFR community course is designed to cater for lay persons who are non-healthcare professionals. High profile cases of sudden cardiac death has brought this essential issue to mainstream recently with many clubs, gyms and public areas investing in an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). However, in order for this to be used effectively, staff, volunteers and the general public must be trained on how to use the AED. TheCFR community course focuses on patient assessment, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in an adult, child and infant, the use of an AED, and the identification and management of a heart attack, stroke and choking. The course is accredited by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council of Ireland which is the statutory body responsible for education and training in the field of pre-hospital emergency care. Certification for successfully completing this course is a Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) CFR community course certificate and completion card which is valid for two years.
